Marilyn's Photos - Aug 16 2025 - Quebec's UFO

The bright light travelling over the night sky of Quebec a few days ago was "the second stage of an Ariane 6 rocket which was igniting its engine in order to de-orbit itself after having released the European satellite Metop-SGA1 in a polar orbit."

That means it was a weather satellite launched from the European spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.   Looking at the google map it seems strange that there can still be an "overseas department of France on the northeast coast of South America."  That would make it like Hawaii, except that historically it was used as a penal colony.

If you look north, there is the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America) - Google's approach to renaming. Similarly, look at the other side of the U.S. you will see the Gulf of California - it does not have the original name of the Sea of Cortez and if you put in the name it switches it to Gulf of California.  The President of Mexico made the name change in 2023.  That name change didn't make any waves then.

Can you imagine this is what Spring is like?  Everything is so intense - the green and the pink are amazing.  I happened upon this picture and had to marvel at how gorgeous it all is.  Stewart Road, St. Catharines
