Are we Resolving?

This is the traditional time when promises are made for the new year.   The headlines tell us this has become an 'old story'-  in the New Yorker -   "More reasonable New Year's resolutions for 2017. " The Sun in the UK says that 88% of people who make a New Year's resolution fail - so that makes just over 1 in 10 successful.   As I read through the list of how to achieve the resolutions, I noticed the word  'concreate' - could it be a new word? I looked it up - it is 'related to concrete' and is considered archaic - to create at the same time.   There is a community for this sort of word play - they develop humorous meanings by changing common words.  The Washington Post runs a neologism competition every year, and this LINK has the best list. Here are the first three: Coffee (n.), the person upon whom one coughs. Flabbergasted (adj.), appalled over how much weight you’ve gained. Abdicate (v.), to give up all hope of ever having a flat stomach. The alphadictionary.com is another site with definitions such as: Lobster n. Someone who throws poorly Transcendental adj.
