The highest bungee jumping in the world is in South Africa - the Bloukrans Bridge. The Curves owner in Grimsby has a son visiting South Africa and he has just had this experience.
From the UpgradeReality.com website where Awesome People Design Awesome Lives: "I thought I’d share the experience of diving head-first off an enormous bridge for a 216m (708 foot) drop, 5 second total free-fall while reaching a speed of 120kmh (75mph) and having only the faith in the bungee cord attached to my feet to keep me from turning into a pancake if I were to hit the ground below."
A few days before this he went skydiving. Connie wondered how many more things like this he might do before he 'starts' his regular life. There are 98 more things like this to be done and Upgradereality.com where I took a look at the list. At 23 is throw a snowball at someone. "You haven’t lived until you’ve hit someone ‘smack’ in the face with a snowball. If you live in a country without snow, you can always resort to scraping it off the inside of your freezer until you have enough to make a snowball with."
To us in the northern hemisphere, that seems sweet and very tame. I scrolled down to the bottom of the list and found the zen-like experiences are listed. I wonder if the author has experienced them, and if Connie's son will head down that road. Here are a few:
Forgive someone
Let go of your past
Do something stupid
Read the Alchemist by Paulho Coelho
Take a vow of silence for a day
Dance in the pouring rain
Experience weightlessness
Send a message in a bottle
In our fascination for accomplishments, the Guinness Book of Records certainly has records for bungee jumping and skydiving. What records would there be for 'forgiving someone' and 'letting go of your past'?
