I've decided to put in a small water feature in the garden at the back porch. I located a frog water feature at the Garden Gate in Cambridge. I seem to have a number of their cement features. It got me asking about famous and strange water features. The Garden Gate has a peeing boy fountain. What other fountains have been created for our amazement.
Amazement isn't the word one would use for the vomiting fountain, or its companions - the nose dripping fountain, the sweating from the armpits fountain, and more. These are statues by Klaus Weber in London, done in 2007. I can't imagine they are still there - what do you think? And there are more and similar by him HERE as in the LSD Fountain, and the car hitting the fire hydrant. These would likely be the most contemporary of hundreds even thousands of years worth of peeing boys and men, and women with spouting breasts.
The second contemporary fountain of note is the Car Fountain in Rome. It was designed by artist Juan Galdeano and is meant to raise awareness around climate change. Here's the car, rising atop a geyser of water.
The full list is at weburbanist.com. Me, I am going to return to my mundane project of a little water noise in the garden to make a hot day seem cooler. Today's picture is at Grimsby Beach taken yesterday as the sun rose - foretelling the hot day ahead.
