When Mark Zuckerberg announced he won't be fact-checking anymore on Meta, he had a new hairstyle, a black t-shirt on, and sticking out for all to see a noteworthy watch. He wore a rare Greubel Forsey Hand Made 1 Swiss watch worth nearly $900,000 as he announced the sweeping policy overhaul across Facebook and Instagram.
With unsurprising timing, he will prioritize "free speech" for Trump's return to the White House. That's a return to misinformation and disinformation just in front of the Canadian election.
But the watch has got everyone's attention. Here's a picture of it. On its website, Greubel Forsey says only two or three Hand Made 1 pieces are produced each year. According to the company, 95% of the watch is crafted by hand-operated tools and a single timepiece requires 6,000 hours to make.
The story is that he and his wife saw the $1 million Richard Mille RM 30-01 worn by Ambani, the youngest son of Asia's richest man, his wife said: “This watch is fantastic,” Chan exclaimed in the video. “That’s so cool,” Zuckerberg agreed, saying: “I never really wanted to get a watch, but after seeing that, I was like: ‘Watches are cool.’” Amani is considered to be one of the top watch collectors in the world and perhaps has the most expensive collection in the world.
Since then, Zuckerberg has been seen wearing luxury timepieces by Patek Philippe, Jaeger-LeCoultre, De Bethune and two pieces by FP Journe.
I guess this is inevitable - both the dropping of fact-checking and the buying of million dollar watches. He is now the 3rd richest person worth $217.7 billion and likely wants to stay in the top three.
Here's a snow abstract - it is snowing with low temperatures, and it is windy, so we'll probably see some snow sculptures like these.
