Minor Injuries

There was a significant earthquake in California yesterday and there were fires and damage, but only minor injuries.  It was the biggest earthquake in 20 years.

It got me wondering what minor injuries are.  Would I consider them minor if they happened to me? I thought I would find our - here is what is on the list:
  • An abrasion, a contusion, a laceration, a sprain or a strain
  • General aches and pains
  • A psychological or psychiatric condition that does not result in an incapacity
  • A concussion
  • TMJ disorder (an injury that involves or surrounds the temporomandibular joint)
  • Certain whiplash associated disorders
There are variations on this - the list comes from the B.C. Civil Resolution Tribunal for accident claims.  The primeurgentcare.com site describes both major and minor.  They say that minor injuries can be painful, but they don't threaten your life, mobility or long-term survival.

Take a look at the California grocery store pictures, where the cans are now located on the aisle floors, and you can imagine there could be all sorts of minor injuries.

At the end of the article, that gut doctor plea shows up - it does with everything.  It is everywhere.  Who pays for these advertisements?  That is quickly answered:  Yahoo is paying Outbrain for clicks, Outbrain is paying someone else, and so on. The gut doctor falls into the category of hidden content:  This comes from vox.com who also wondered who this gut doctor can be and how he can pay for these ads. The article is subtitled "A journey through internet garbage".  You can read the article HERE.  It explains all the weird pop up articles that want to lure you to click through to them. There are formal names for these weird categories.

Here's an abstract today - it made me think this might be what the gut doctor sees when you eat that terrible vegetable.
