April 27 2020 - Sakura Sadness

I took a picture on Saturday of the first Niagara fruit blossoms.  There were apricot trees along Jordan Road in bloom.  Apricots are the first to bloom.  Here's the sequence:

apricots
peaches
cherries
pears
plums
apples

The City of Toronto has warned the public that the Sakura cherry trees in High Park are officially off-limits starting April 22nd.  The fines start at $750 and go up to $5,000.  Here's the video on what we'll miss.  I don't mind saying that it looks hilarious to see all those people out freely walking about.

You can see the Sakura Watch videos from past years on YouTube by entering the search terms 'sakura watch toronto'.

That's what we'll be missing - this is a Sakura in bloom at Vineland Research Station last year.
