Nov 15 2023 - Fogust in Snowvember

Santa Monica, California has a lot of fog.  They are zone 11b compared to Niagara's 6b - 7a.

Overcast skies there are common in the morning - May, June, July, and early August.  That's how Fogust came along - August seems to be the month of Fog.  However, they call the fog in May "May Gray" and then "June Gloom", so there's a name for each month's part in the foggy skies.

They have their highest temperatures in September - San Francisco is the same as that.  Being on the ocean, they have cool breezes and that means cooler temperatures and cleaner, fresher air.

Santa Monica is considered a desert climate with they rainy season in winter.  Today is a rain forecast at 19 degrees today.

Here in Niagara, the temperature is now 4 degrees and going up to 13 degrees.  But what a difference to Santa Monica. We'll be down to 3 or lower in the night. Santa Monica will be down to 14 degrees.

Lake Ontario has its breezes that make it cooler by the lake.  Our lake breezes happen more in the spring and summer.  It is in November that we get the big winds, and even gales.  And by the end of November, snow will take over from the rain.

Of course, we will have Christmas-worthy weather, compared to Santa Monica  where it might be called "Fogmas".

Here's Half Moon Bay's version of the morning fog.
