June 4 2024 - And On to Usernames

Thinking of what goes with PINs, what about Usernames?  I've held an opinion for decades on people having avatar usernames that seem stupid - that is, stupid to me. I got to see a full range, being on a number of Art Sites and hosting interest groups.  Fifteen years ago, there were many pseudonyms in use - not so today.  Most people use their own name.

In comparison, there are still lots of people that don't have a picture of themselves.  There are photographers who like to have a picture of a camera in their hands pointing the lens at you.

The article on funny usernames is typical of the "breezy, carefree" writing style on topics that are considered social entertainment.  Here's what it says:

"If the usernames on TikTok, Instagram, dating sites, and gaming platforms make you laugh out loud, then you should acquire a funny name for your account. If you’re just now creating your social media accounts, someone probably already has your name taken. Instagram usernames is a great way to stand out and show a bit of your personality. "

Their choices on cute names:

  • WhosNext?
  • i_was_a_mistake
  • Oops_Sorry
  • RuthlessSlayer
  • NewHighScore
  • All_Time_Low
  • XBoxShutDown
  • DroppedMyController
  • catch_me_if_u_can
  • Unst0ppable
  • Sick0_M0de
  • YourTurn
  • Need4Speed
  • sendc0ins
  • i_can_see_your_pixels
  • i_was_reloading

The stranger usernames that I regularly see are on Reddit.  These ones were chosen in that article because they are "funny":

  • InternetDad
  • JuliusSneezer
  • JuliusSeizure
  • PotStirrer
  • BloodBoiler
  • oprah_wind_fury
  • epic_fail
  • tin_foil_hat
  • yes_u_suck
  • anonymouse
  • im_confused
  • name_not_important
  • ctrl_alt_dlt
  • google_was_my_idea
  • bigfootisreal
  • worldwarIII
  • RealNameHidden
That last one - RealNameHidden - that's typical of Reddit behaviour and attitudes.  There are a fair number of very rude names on Reddit and Quora.

Here's the Primula field at Chanticleer Gardens - a difficult primula for us to grow - but abundant in the Philadelphia area gardens.
