July 27 2024 - Bugs Bunny Birthday

We are very worried about treating AI people as real, but somehow don't worry about treating Bugs Bunny that way.  He might be a cartoon, but he seems alive to a lot of people. The Globe highlighted his birthday today - July 27 1940. He has 5 fathers attributed to him.

What would you call Bugs Bunny's cohorts such as Daffy Duck, Porky Pig Yosemite Sam, Sylvester and Tweety?  Maybe the creators thought of them as a cartoon family.  Who knows?

Bunny starred in 163 shorts - that is a lot of drawing.  When you look at the entire Looney Tune series, there were 1,002 Looney Tunes shorts.

The claim is that Bugs appeared in more films than any other cartoon character. One site says he is the ninth most-portrayed film personality in the world but I didn't find a list with his name in it.

Here are two google questions that got my attention.  They don't seem to distinguish that Bugs Bunny is not a person.

Q Why does Bugs Bunny have a Nobel Prize?
A Daffy: "What's the Nobel Prize? Bugs: An award given to those who have made the greatest contributions to the betterment of humanity. Daffy: Oh! (slaps his forehead) The betterment of humanity!"

Q What disability does Bugs Bunny have?
A Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline disorder is where a person has unstable moods, behavior, and relationships. Bugs Bunny is always using manipulative techniques as well as tremendous mood swings towards the other characters. Also, Bugs' is doing self destruction and self harm in many of his scenes.

There aren't that many "hilarious" Bugs Bunny jokes - mostly they are about fleas.

Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny are planning to rob a distillery.

Bugs asks Elmer “if it is whiskey”? Elmer replies, “yes, but not as whiskey as robbing a bank”

Here's a collage of bark images showcasing the different textures of the surfaces.
