Michael's Craft Store is full of everything - Fall, Halloween and Christmas. You can buy a Christmas tree on sale, Halloween decorations on sale and Fall florals on sale. All on sale. No one seems perturbed anymore. In fact the colourful displays are energizing and fun to shoppers.
Maybe this isn't a shopping trend. Maybe it relates to television, movies, social media- where there is bright, sparkly input all the time? And there's a lot of colour stimulation in these seasonal events, so make the most of them.
Here's the sort of question to one of the Disneyland Forums: Is it possible to do a trip and see both the Halloween and Christmas decorations and parties? If so, would the trip need to be a week long? Or would 4 days do the trick?
And the answers: I believe last year the last Halloween party was November 1 and the first Christmas party was November 8.
In 2012, the last Halloween party was November 2 and the first Christmas party was November 9. We did both parties on that trip, although the Halloween party merchandise was sold out.
What's the status in 2024? Mickey's Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party happens from August 9 to Oct 31. And the Very Merry Christmas Party is Noember 8 to December 20. The parks are decorated by December 1st. After Christmas? There is snow on Main Street!
Another site goes further:
Halloweenthanks....Is the holiday celebrating the most wonderful time of the year, October through December. It is a time of great warmth, sharing, parties, and of great American commercialism. People complain about overlapping holidays, but why? The distinction between the three major holidays is only becoming less clear. Embrace it as Hallowthanksmas! It's certainly not going to disappear. It's a great excuse to eat, drink and be merry for three months straight! Each month is a celebration of its respective holidays, and seeing decorations and stores fully stocked should get our creative juices flowing; food, friends, parties and decorations are all a part of the holidays. Let's face it, Hallowthanksmas is here to stay, and I say God Bless It. And God Bless Us, everyone!
And that post is in 2008.
There are a lot more yard decorations this year than ever before for Halloween. I took this picture a few years ago - a crowded street in St. Catharines.
And then the Watering Can's Christmas wreath display. This is all changed now - and even the Watering Can is full of both Halloween and Christmas displays.
