Oct 24 2024 - Fam Jam

The Stokes Deli bakery restaurant in Niagara sends out notices of their prepared meals as "Fam Jam Thank you Ma'am"  - what does that mean?

The meaning of the word Famjam is:  "a party or get-together that consists of only family members in a 'jam' or party like setting. When a child makes a drawing of all the family members, it is also called a famjam picture."

"Thank you Ma'am" - And what does that mean?  "a bump or depression in a road that jars a person riding over it."

The expression does not seem much clearer to me. Is it common?  If I put quotes around the expression I can go to Pinterest and find 83 fam jam thank you ma'am ideas. These seem to be interior rooms with fireplaces.

I originally found this deli bakery on Lake Street across from the hairdresser.  I could go in and buy the Stokes pickled products - creative things like fennel, cauliflower, and other unusual vegetables.  The pictures they send out of their meals always get my attention - beautiful images of wonderful looking dishes.

So the expression?  I guess it is an attention getter. It gets my attention every time.

This picture was taken 10 years ago on an Amish family's flower farm north of Toronto.  It made me wonder something. When I am in the Watering Can on Saturdays with Millie, there are often Mennonite/Amish women in traditional dress in the store.  Most often they are sitting on the Betty sofa for a group picture.  I don't see them anywhere else - just in the Watering Can. It seems a curious thing.
