Niagara Falls is on a roll. They sent out their year-end email with a recap of 2024 and a look ahead to 2025.
How many countries are there in the world? There are 195 countries. And how many countries did visitors come from to visit Niagara Falls? A whopping 168 countries. That seems astonishing to me. Well, consider 12 million people visit Niagara Falls each year. Another article says 20 million people. I think that's the total for both U.S. and Canada. Of course, compare that to almost 40 million people visit Las Vegas, the same number to New York's Times Square, 37 million to Central Park, and 32 million to Union Station in Washington. Niagara Falls comes in 5th. The Forbidden City in Beijing gets 15 million visitors coming in around 10th.
The milestone news is that the Power Station project has been announced. It is a luxury boutique hotel in that gorgeous Toronto Power heritage building. It has had frost fencing around it for decades, and has been dormant for 50 years. The Toronto Power hotel will open in 2028. You can imagine the view - it says a 360-degree view of the Falls. Here's an artistic rendering below. I think all the water-side windows need to be sealed so no one can fall in and then swoosh - over the Falls. That would be a national story.
Here's the view from the Floral Greenhouse first from 2011 and then this past summer.
