Am I ever out-of-date! This was a COVID fad. Painting on lips just below the chin, covering the rest of the face, and then posting this online in the “Tiny Face” challenge.
Go take a look - type in tiny face. Get a thousand pictures. At least. I randomly found an excellent video of the person below putting on the makeup to create the tiny face. The video is HERE.
Next, let’s look at some of the screen shots of the process. In the first you can see the nose and lips outline “taking shape” on her nose. In the second, the distinction that will be created is highlighted, and in the third, her lips painted on her nose above her real mouth below. In between are lots of makeup additions to sculpt the cheekbones and create larger than life eyes. Finally with the scarf is over her lower face, and her “tiny face” is finished.
I experience it as some sort of reverse-engineering. Instead of someone creating a cartoon character based on real faces with real proportions, one takes a real face and engineers a cartoon character with exaggerated features. I consider that we are in the age of mimicking AI images of people and trying to turn ourselves into cartoon characters.
I found a tiny face challenge for men - which isn’t nearly as appealing in terms of results. It is HERE. The last image has the host and contestants with their makeup. It seems to me that the men aren’t as proficient at makeup as needed for this activity.
And the photo of the day? Some tiny people from the tiny village that was on display a few years ago at the Fantasy of Trees.
