This is the start of the weatherman's spring. Our weather is so variable that the 3 day severe weather outlook has snowfall risk, rather than rainfall/flooding risk - the prediction is rainfall this week. Looking outside, there's lots of winter snow. We just finished the Coldest Night fundraiser last weekend. It ended with a battle of the chilis.
If we lived in Olde Mistick, Connecticut, it is battle of the chowders. There is a picture in the front page of the "The Day" newspaper with a couple enjoying the "Frutti Di Mare Chowder" made by The Irons at Hilton Mystic. This would be fun - to taste all the variations - this is a great East Coast tradition.
The battle of the Chowders is part of the Cabin Fever Festival. Here I am finding out there are Cabin Fever Festivals everywhere. There's one in Margaret River, Australia. How can they have cabin fever? And remember they are moving into autumn, so their next cabin fever is July 17 - 26, 2020. What happens in their winter? Rain falls mostly in the winter. The average annual temperature is 16.4 degrees Celsius. What is Grimsby's? It is 8.5 degrees Celsius.
The place that needs a Cabin Fever Festival is in the north where the days are dark. And there is one in NWT - a music festival. Another snowy place that's perfect for this festival: there's one in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. It features huge bonfires. If offers this participation: If you are a local, bring your live Christmas tree to add to the fire pile.
A railroad scene or two for today's pictures - with those happy Skylum skies.
