July 3 2023 - Influencer

How many young people want to grow up to be an "Influencer?"
About 86% of young Americans surveyed said they're willing to try out influencing on their social media platforms — and 12% of young people said they already considered themselves one, according to a report from Morning Consult. Another 20% of young people said they know an influencer personally.

"Social media star" has become the fourth-most popular career aspiration for kids.

How many people try to be influencers?
Results varied slightly by region. More than 40 percent of respondents in the West said they want to become a social media influencer, compared with 33 percent in the Midwest, 36 percent in the South and 39 percent in the Northeast.

What are the odds of becoming a successful influencer?
The chances of you getting extremely wealthy as an influencer are pretty slim. In fact, the average payment per post if you have less than 2,000 followers is less than $50. Even if you have a pretty decent follower count, between 50k followers to 75k followers, you'll still only average about $200 per post.

Can I be an influencer with 1000 followers?
An influencer is someone with a loyal and larger than average social media following. Some influencers have as few as 3,000 followers! Influencers are paid by brands to create and post promotional content.

How many followers on Instagram do you need to make $1000 per month?
To earn $1,000 a month, you will want at least 10,000 followers. How much do you make with 10k Instagram followers? With quality content, a marketable niche, and good engagement, you can earn $1,000 or more monthly with 10,000 Instagram followers.

And why not? No specific talents.  Few rules.  Big money.

Who will be influenced with so many influencers?

Last Day

I participated in yesterday's graduation at South Lincoln High School - it is the last graduation and  the school's last day.  It is one of 3 schools being closed due to dwindling enrolment.  It's not that Smithville isn't growing - as one drives towards it the wall of new build is there.  I don't think Smithville is covered by the Greenbelt legislation, so is expanding rapidly.  Part of the dwindling enrolment is students registering in other high schools because of extra programming and activities.  And then by 2020 the super high school will be built to consolidate all the high schools in the catchment area.

It was a different graduation last night compared to Blessed Trinity the night before.  For a school at its ending, the tone was upbeat and energetic with optimism for all.  There were contemporary references and students were treated more as equals (the difference of tone and language).  They were complimented on the quality of their performance and behaviour as a group and as individuals.  $35,000 in scholarships were being awarded this year.   Then there's the difference of principals.  Blessed Trinity's is sincere, open, and caring.  This female principal exuded charisma and excitement.  She related her recent overnight motorcycle trip to Stratford with her 10 year old daughter.  She started off with the active use of the 'extended metaphor' for both students and staff to engage in - she enjoyed the teaching opportunity.

Here's the link to their tweets and we're included in one of the pictures - yes that's the principal with that wild smile. Compare that with Blessed Trinity tweets.

We presenters were off to the side, so no shoe pictures from last night - these are Blessed Trinity's.
