Mar 6 2025 - Town Mascot

 

Wouldn't it be interesting if we had our own mascot in Grimsby?  So far, it would be a fox or a coyote. We've seen a fox running up our street the last two days.  Millie is not very pleased about this. We're thinking of this because the town of Naramata, B.C. had a peacock, or more.  The story  has made the news - not because they disappeared three years ago.  But because two peacocks have been seen recently.   I guess the peacocks weren't mascots.  Peacocks have roamed freely in the village for decades.  But the last two disappeared a few years ago, and were thought to have been killed by bobcats. You know that they might not be loved by everyone.  They have a very loud screeching squawk. Can you imagine when one of them hopped on your car?  They would chase the municipal garbage truck.  I think that would be hilarious, but who knows. The article ends with the question of how these two young peacocks arrived.  "That's the big question mark with back then and now. Who is bringing these peacocks to the village?" She asked. "Somebody knows actually where they came from. I don't, and most people don't, but there's a couple of somebodies that know what's happening right now."
