I don't think of rice as the world's favourite food.  It isi the most eaten food consumed daily.  THe most favourite food in the world is none other than pizza.  I wondered which country loves it the most - it is Norway.  It consumes more pizza per capita than any other country.  Norwegians eat an average of 11 pizzas per year.  In kilograms, that's 11.4 for Norway, 9.6 for the U.S. and 8.9 for Canada. Itality comes fifth at 7.6 kg/cap. You can look at the world through the pizza lens.  It is at this website here. There are a lot of really bad pizza jokes. Maybe I've been looking at jokes for too many years now.  Here are the ones that did appeal to me: How do you get the guitarist off your front porch? Give him the 20 bucks for the pizza. If it took six kids five minutes to eat a whole pizza, how long would it take three kids to eat the pizza? No time, as the six kids already ate the pizza. A pizza walks into a bar, and orders a drink. The bartender says, "I'm sorry, but we don't serve food here." We're waiting to find out what the featured food will be at the CNE this year.  I wonder if there will be a strange pizza.  There has been deep-fried butter, deep-fried Oreos, deep-fried avocado. As for pizza, there has been deep-fried pizza, mac-and-cheese pizza, and poutine pizza.

July 20 2023 - Miracle of the Never Diminishing Pizza

 

"It was a pizza for four and 25 of us ate from it.  It never got any smaller.”  This story comes from a Bing headline about the Virgin Mary crying tears of blood in a village near Rome.  The 53-year-old woman who they believe has been performing miracles and healing the sick, and feeding them with a never-ending pizza. (and sometimes gnocchi)... There are skeptics who have good reason to be. Chief among them is Cardia's conviction for bankruptcy fraud in 2013 and the charity the former businesswoman has set up to help the sick.  Then in March a private detective said tests showed the statue's tears were of pig's blood. Prosecutors are now investigating Cardia, and the shrine she set up on a hill outside the village overlooking Lake Bracciano is threatened with demolition. The local Catholic bishop, Monsignor Marco Salvi, has ordered his clergy to have nothing to do with the shrine, and has asked the faithful to stay away. Despite the scandal surrounding it, the group behind Virgin of Trevignano is still calling on the faithful to gather at the shrine on the third of every month, even if numbers were down in July. "Don't listen to the rumours," one of its leaders told AFP. "Today fake news is everywhere." You can read the full story HERE.

This garden always makes it into the Trilliums.  What do you notice about the lawn?  Maybe that it is not grass.  It is synthetic lawn - often to be found under the brand name Serenity Grass.  Such an interesting challenge for a “garden” club, don’t you think?  What if the serenity grass was accompanied by artificial plants in the garden?  One can buy real touch, real look, real smell roses...Things are very complicated these day.
