Sep 2 2020 - Wasting Time

Is wasting time accidental?  Are we more likely to do things that are useful and contributing?  I wondered what we consider wasting time today other than too much time on visual media like social media, TV movies and video games.  Those seem like passive distractions.  Given COVID-19 we now consider many things to be filling out time rather than wasting it.

Here's a person who says momento-gathering is a waste of time - collecting and organizing mementos.  Photo taking, organizing, uploading and posting - well that goes with Facebook and other social media.  How about personal grooming - "if you spend more than 5 minutes on your hair, you might think about how to reduce that time".  How about cleaning house - "before you buy a big house, consider the time it will take to clean it!"  Included in time wasters was more than 20 - 30 minutes of intense exercise.

Are there 'time waster' jokes?  Of course there are.  Making up jokes might be considered a time waster itself.

I asked my dad, "What do you think of time travel?"
He said: Waste of time.

I once went out with this girl called simile....it was a waste of time, I don't know why I metaphor.

I spent all day yesterday putting my old watches together to make a belt. When I finally finished I realized it was just a huge waste of time.
