Another watermark was hit with the most popular video of 2025. It is “Baby Shark Dance” by Pinkfong Kids’ Songs and Stories with over 16 billion views. It is far ahead of other popular videos - Despacito and children’s rhymes from Cocomelon. I wonder who wrote “Baby Shark Dance” and whether they are a YouTuber billionaire. That record is held by Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast who is a billionaire and ranks as the highest earner - likely as high as $700 million annually.  Of course, there’s a video on how MrBeast became a billionaire - HERE. Much closer to home is our Monday morning watercolour class - with our favourite YouTube watercolour artist Emma Jane Lefebvre from Grimsby. She has the 500,000 followers that supposedly can make $5,000 month on YouTube.  So we can assume she’s a full-time YouTuber. Her YouTube channel is HERE.  I see one video with almost a million views.  That million views mark is one of the thresholds for financial success. I did a search and found playboard.co which shows some statistics for YouTube producers. There are over 23 million channels that can be searched.  Here’s Emma Jane Lefebvre’s listing below.  She’s branched out recently and is offering watercolour experience vacations through uptrek.  You can go on a Watercolour Serenity Retreat to Greece in May 2026, except it is all sold out at $5,000 US minus airfare.  A life of luxury awaits you… Below the statistics is a water colour version of a garden tour scene. Mar 7 2024 - Invasive Species on the Run

 

An invasive species is a plant that is non-native to an area, but does very well in its new surroundings and proliferates.  It overruns every other plant in sight.  But the Youtube news is about towns in utah that have been overtaken by tumbleweed.  Homes are surrounded by piles as high as three meters.   There are dozens of videos of brown, dried tumbleweeds taking over, engulfing cars and the fronts of homes.  Here's a video - I hope it works - they cycle through so many different stories: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUKKxNV5-y8 It looks like high winds and that winter storm caused the invasion.  The videos are fascinating and have made their way around the world.
