It isn't that I am in favour of Rob Ford's latest car-oriented project. It is the longest tunnel in the world with the aim to reduce congestion on the Highway 401.
I cannot resist repeating the headlines - "Ford Tunnel Vision"
No can one resist the headline of "Tunnel Vision." And what does the expression mean?
"Tunnel vision is a vision defect where objects cannot be seen unless they are near the center of the visual field."
How many ways can you use the following words in a sentence: "Doug Ford", "Highway 401", Tunnel Vision", Congestion worse", "Boston's Big Dig"
The Globe and Mail has refrained from the use of "Tunnel Vision". They say: "The Ontario Premier's pitch to speed up traffic by tunnelling under Highway 401 is politically brilliant and otherwise dunderheaded."
There are lots of articles with lots of comparisons to Boston's Big Dig project - a vastly expensive tunnel that did not reduce congestion.
Perhaps the story is about how long this story can last and give him press coverage. Courier Canadas says: "The cognoscenti may be able to argue this forever".
What's around the corner on this story? It's hard to see.
