We remember Saturday Night Live in its first season. The headline says that this is the 50th season. Here are the shows with the most seasons:
Animated comedy: The Simpsons, 34 seasons
Children's television: Sesame Street, 54 seasons
Late night: The Tonight Show, 70 seasons
Soap Opera: Coronation Street, 64 seasons
Sitcom: Last of the Summer Wine, 31 seasons
Drama: Law and Order, 23 seasons
Reality TV: Survivor, 46 seasons
One can get the episode count for various shows as well. For example, The Simpsons have 772 episodes, Gunsmoke has 635 episodes, Law and order 506 episodes. What about Lassie? It had 591 episodes. You can see the shows by episode count HERE.
Here's one: Kraft Television Theatre from 1947 to 1958 with 587 episodes. I wonder if that's one of the earliest. And on to Japan: Sazae-San ran over 7,500 episodes and five decades - it has the Guinness World Record for the longest-running anime TV show.
