Oct 5 2024 - Goat News

We haven't been paying attention until Joshua the goat ran the Half-Maratohon.  There are lots of goat news stories.

 This one from May 2023
"Goats grazing on grass and other vegetation can be seen at Wascana Centrein Regina as part of a project to target invasive weeds.

"Sarah Romuld, ecologist with the Provincial Capital Commission, said 270 goats from Elbow, Sask., were brought out to help weed out the weeds and restore some of the native vegetation.

"The goats can be seen in the area until June 1, but residents are being asked to keep their dogs on leashes, as well as stay away from the goats, electric fencing and shepherd while they work away.

"Florentine Maathius, a goat shepherd looking over the grazing herd with a sheepdog and two border collies, said goats will nibble on the grass, but they prefer the weeds."

This story is from 2018:

"Megan Kibby, 33, said she never expected to become a grandmother at such young age. But when Tassi, the goat she raised with her business partner, Jason Lewis, gave birth to twins in the midst of a goat yoga session in Suwanee, Georgia, on Sunday afternoon, she was delighted.

"Ms Kibby and Mr Lewis run Red Wagon Goats, a goat yoga business based in Stone Mountain, Georgia (Ms Kibby teaches the yoga).,, Mr Lewis and Ms Kibby are just two of the many goat owners who have joined the goat yoga craze...

"Goat yoga did not spring from some Burning Man brainstorm. It was born at a children's birthday party in Albany, Oregon, at the home of Lainey Morse, who had between six and eight pet goats at the time. One of the parents in attendance, Heather Davis, was a yoga instructor. Watching the kids cavort, she had a eureka moment: "Why not combine goats and yoga?"  Take a look at the pictures HERE.

And another from 2018:

"Dozens of goats have mysteriously descended upon a suburban town in Idaho, destroying lawns and chewing rose bushes to shreds.

"It was a scene of chaos and confusion: nearly 100 goats on a street in West Boise, Idaho on early Friday morning, calmly walking from one house to the next as they ate foliage and plants.

"By Friday afternoon, explanations surrounding the mysterious goats began to emerge. "The goats were originally brought to the neighbourhood as part of a 'rent a goat' service, an eco-friendly way to tackle weeds and pasture," a representative for the Idaho Humane Society told The Independent in a statement. "The goats had reportedly broke out of the pasture and began exploring the surrounding neighbours yards."  The full story HERE

Here's a birthday card for October.
