Oct 6 2024 - Nautical Miles

Yes - Joshua, the Goat was the star of the hockey game last evening.  From the Taylor's Pumpkin Patch FB page early this morning:

"Happy Sunday, we are open today from 9am to 6pm. We have thousands of pumpkins to choose from. We will be doing free hayrides on a load and go basis. Also available for sale is fresh homemade baked goods, crocheted and knitted crafts, fresh popcorn, and haybales!! Stop by to see our boy Joshua. Joshua as a lot of you know has had an eventful week. He has been to our town hall, dropped the puck at opening game of the Renegades hockey game at CBS stadium, and even stayed to watch the first period!! Also he will be featured on a game show called Have you been paying attention? In Australia!! Joshua will be staying on the farm now, I think it’s been enough going for him. But he welcomes you to come see him at his patch!!! We also have tshirts available with his picture on it!! We are located at 71 Fagans road in CBS!!We are cash only!!
Have a great day!!"

Besides the latest "Goat News", I was wondering about nautical vs overland miles. Things seem so complicated - why are there two different standards?  However, there's always a reason for these differences. A nautical mile is based longitude and latitude, making it simpler for mariners, pilots and astronauts to measure distance. In comparison to the standard mile, it is slightly longer.

Finding myself in new territory, I went looking for nautical jokes and found the treasure trove - with a nautical joke included:

New weights and measures

1. The ratio of an igloo's circumference to its diameter = Eskimo Pi
