Marilyn's Photos - Oct 22 2025 - Billionaires lead Millionaire Migration

The top 3 billionaire migrants in the world live in the U.S. now - Elon Musk, Sergey Brin and Jensen Huang.  They may be the only 3 as no more names seem to be given.  But then they are among the richest people on the planet.  There are now 125 foreign-born billionaires who are U.S. citizens in 2025. They dominate the $1.3trillion “slice” of US wealth.

The next group is million migrants and they go to UAE, then the US, then Singapore, and Canada is in 4th place.  The factors that lead to migration to Canada include political stability, strong economy and high quality of life. The number that was projected for 2024 was 3,200 millionaires coming to Canada. But really, the news is that 7,500 foreign millionaires will migrate to the US in 2025 bringing with them $43.7 billion. And it may grow this year given the lower taxes and reduced regulations in the U.S.

The countries losing millionaires are China, UK, India, South Korea and Russia.  UK is losing so many because of its tax burden and stagnant economy.  And what about India?  It says taxes are a significant driver and then lifestyle with concerns about pollution, traffic congestion and quality of public services. China’s tech crackdown, their campaign to reduce income inequality by getting the wealthy to donate to philanthropy, and the increased scrutiny over private businesses. And  there’s the economic slowdown.  Russia is seen as having political and economic issues with the Kremlin tightening control while at the same time there is a lack of rule of law so that personal wealth is at risk. And then there’s that war which means Russia has a militarized economy.  And South Korea has high taxes all-round.

I conclude that if you are a billionaire or a millionaire, it is all about money.and keeping it to yourself.  Let’s see how it plays out in 2025 and where it all stacks up.
