Marilyn's Photos - Oct 11 2025 - Blue Jays Fever

There are a lot of headlines about the Blue Jays.  One of the headlines was that the Maple Leafs moved the time for their Monday game to 2:00pm to avoid conflict with the Blue Jays. It is being called Magical Monday. And the time for the Blue Jays’ game hasn’t been announced yet. Definitely magical.

What are the play-offs games worth to Rogers? The Globe and Mail says tens of millions of dollars from the playoff sales of tickets, merchandise, etc. That doesn’t seem like a lot to me.  But then, Rogers is the presenting sponsor of Sportsnet’s Major League Baseball postseason coverage, so its logo is everywhere. The integration of its companies will add to the revenues.  There’s the possibility of that emotional tie-in which leads to long-term big bucks in loyalty purchasing:

“It allows us to connect with consumers on a more emotional level,” said Terrie Tweddle, chief brand and communications officer for Rogers Communications, in an interview. “I get e-mails from fans, from customers, telling me the most heartfelt stories, personal stories about what this means for them.”

“We know from our research that our ownership position in the team has a positive impact in terms of perceptions of the brand, perceptions on purchase intent.”

And that blue uniform is great for photo-ops.  Here’s an image from a Blue Jays game a few years ago.

Sea of Blue vs Autumn Yellow

Grimsby gets windy in October and November.  The result is that the autumn colours are blown off the trees very quickly.  No lingering autumn here.  Charles Daley Park has a wonderful willow tree overlooking the lagoon.  The colours and reflections are excellent photo subjects.  The other day the yellowing leaves were blowing, making motion blur patterns that caught the change from green to yellow.

Autumn colours are not on the minds of most Torontonians today. The colour that will prevail is a sea of blue, with the Blue Jays' Game 5 this afternoon.  20,000 signatures are on an online petition to open the dome for the game.

Blue Jays Excitement

In comparison to Friday's serene art viewing, Saturday was a Toronto trip to see the Blue Jays game with lots of energy and vitality. With a score of 10-8 for the Blue Jays, there were a lot of hits and home runs.  Even an interference by a fan who was ejected.  And the crowd had lots of energy and a big sound.
