May 10 2020 - The Failure of the Adult Burger

I wondered how it could be that I missed the Snowbirds.  But no, they scrapped the flyover because of SNOW.  So today's the day - again at 12:45 to 1:45pm.

"The Museum of Failure is a collection of failed products and services from around the world. The majority of all innovation projects fail and the museum showcases these failures to provide visitors a fascinating learning experience. Every item provides unique insight into the risky business of innovation."  - museumoffailure.com

The Museum founder is psychologist Samuel West.  He wants to portray the real-life experience where "It's rough and dirty" with stumbles and falls, where failure is a better teacher than success.  The Museum tours with pop-up displays around the world. It made a trip to Toronto's Harbourfront in 2018.

What is distinctive?  They all look just like products that are on the market right now.  McDonald's - Arch Deluxe 1996-97 attempting to change its image introduced a more adult taste hamburger.

I pick that one, as I don't know what an adult taste hamburger would be.  So let's get McDonald's to answer the question:  "The
Arch Deluxe was a quarter pound of beef on a split-top potato flour sesame seed bun, topped with a circular piece of peppered bacon, leaf lettuce, tomato, American cheese, onions, ketchup, and a "secret" mustard and mayonnaise sauce."  This is a failed product so we aren't able to try it out.

On the other hand, you actually can buy and try Adult Hamburger Helper.  Here's what they say about it:  "Hamburger Helper might have been a childhood favorite, so we've updated for sophisticated adult tastes with sundried tomatoes and a touch of cream (don't worry - kids will still love it!).  Smarts: Finish with cheddar cheese if you want a thicker finish and more comfort or a touch of cream for something lighter and more sophisticated."

And then there are lots of proposed dinner ideas for grownup burgers.

  • Grownup pizza burger
  • Turkey Burgers 270 Malt winegar-Molasses Burger Sauce
  • Chile-Lime Burger
  • Grown‑Up Grilled Cheese - American and Swiss cheeses on two burger patties topped with two cherrywood-smoked bacon strips, onion rings ... etc
  • Grown-up burger:  red wine burgers with mushrooms
This should be the next wave of frenzied cooking during COVID-19 as we embark on hamburger season starting this week when the temperatures return to seasonable double digit numbers.

In the meantime, we have just got a high-quality scanner and here's the result - Muscari (grape hyacinth) from the garden wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day.
